At Rainbow Roots, we are "Mothers to Many" both literally and figuratively, so we know that children make mistakes. Our teachers will speak with children whose behaviours require guidance, in order to help them understand why they are being asked to change their actions/ behaviours. Teachers will then redirect children to other activities in the classroom. Parents will be notified after class if their child required redirection. A conversation can begin regarding an individual child's needs relating to his or her emotional and social development.
For the health and safety of your child and his/her classmates, please do not send your child to preschool if he/she is ill. Children should be symptom free for 24 hours before they return to preschool. Please advise our teachers of any absences by calling or texting 403-875-5696.
Parents will not be charged monthly fees for months during which Rainbow Roots Preschool is obliged to close due to government mandated closures.
Parents will be asked to check their child's temperature before attending each class. Parents will be asked to review the Alberta Health COVID-19 Daily Checklist before class begins. Teachers will inquire about each child's health upon arrival to preschool. Increased hand-washing and sanitization of toys, books and other resources will occur throughout and after the school day. Student groups will be kept smaller, in order to facilitate better care and education of each child. Rainbow Roots Preschool will maintain AHS and government regulations as required. These regulations may change during the school year as COVID-19 cases increase or decrease in Alberta. Students will continue to enjoy their school days during times of increased health measures!
Parents should drop off and pick up their children within 5 minutes of scheduled class times. If you will be late, please call the program director at 403-875-5696 as soon as possible. A teacher will stay with your child until you arrive. Parents are expected to respect Rainbow Roots class schedules.
Parents will receive progress reports of their children's learning successes and areas for growth in January and June. Parents are also welcome to speak with their child's teacher at any time.
Rainbow Roots Preschool has partnered with Foothills Creative Beginnings to meet individual learning needs. With parent permission, an Educational Coordinator will assess students to determine whether or not they require additional learning supports and funding. Once government funding is secured, the Educational Coordinator will partner with Rainbow Roots Preschool teachers and support personnel to meet each student's identified learning and developmental needs.
A preschool calendar will be posted to our website when events and dates are confirmed for the 2020/2021 school year. Teachers update SeeSaw (app) regularly, so that parents are kept up-to-date on the happenings in class. The program director emails parents to inform them of special occasions, school holidays, etc. Our teachers are helpful resources as well!
